Mr. Tony Tyson's Introduction

Text from Video

Hi, I'm Tony Tyson, the Director of Extension County Operations. First, I want to welcome you as a new employee of the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension. The Extension Service was created in 1914 by the Smith-Lever Act which was co-sponsored by Georgia's Senator and former Governor Hoke Smith. We will celebrate our 100th anniversary of service to the citizens of Georgia in the year 2014.
Cooperative Extension is an important part of the University's land grant mission to bring the University to the people of this state. We have a rich history and I believe a bright future in our state. We have offices in almost all of Georgia's 159 counties and bring the resources of our flagship University to our communities in the areas of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, and 4-H Youth Development. We're proud to have you as a member of our Extension family and trust that you will find your work here both challenging and rewarding.
