Traffic crashes are the #1 Killer
of teens. On average 200 Georgia
teenagers lose their life in traffic
crashes. As a Georgia Teens Ride
With P.R.I.D.E.(Parents Reducing Incidents of Driver Error) Instructor,
you can help prevent teen crashes in your
community.
Safety
advocates such as child passenger
safety technicians, public
safety officers, educators, public
health and emergency medical workers,
as well as business, civic and faith
leaders are encouraged to become
Certified Instructors through this
train-the-trainer course. GTIPI provides
all training
materials
necessary to conduct the 2-hour Georgia
Teens Ride With P.R.I.D.E. class for
parents and teens in your local community.
The Instructor Certification course includes
teen driving facts and statistics, crash
dynamics, Joshua's Law, Driver's Education
and Georgia’s Teenage and Adult
Driver Responsibility Act (TADRA). Participants
learn how to work with parents on what
to do during the supervised practice of
their teen drivers required by law, as
well as how to lead teens in a roundtable
discussion about high-risk driving behavior.
In addition to the 6-hour course, new
P.R.I.D.E. Instructors must observe an
approved 2-hour parent-teen class. Trainees
receive 8 total hours of P.O.S.T. credit
for instructor certifcation. P.R.I.D.E.
Instructors must re-certify annually.
New P.R.I.D.E. instructors
are required to attend an approved
2-hour parent-teen course on the evening
of their training in order to receive
certification. Trainees are granted eight
(8) total hours of P.O.S.T. credit for
instructor certification.
