Information about the 2007 CARAVAN

The Governor's Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) has finalized plans for its 2007 Safety Caravan. The Caravan is scheduled for Athens-Clarke County the week of April 2-6. Caravan is an annual safety blitz that goes to various areas of the state to increase awareness concerning a variety of safety issues such as safety belt use, child safety seats, traffic safety, pedestrian safety, bicycle and helmet safety, and more. GOHS will partner with The University of Georgia Traffic Injury Prevention Institute (GTIPI), other organizations and volunteers to deliver safety education at area schools, child care providers, businesses and churches during the Caravan.

Events for the week will also include law enforcement check points, child safety seat checks and teen driving presentations. The Piedmont Area Traffic Enforcement Network will assist with both enforcement and educational plans.
